One Direction are set to perform at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards for the very first time, and we’re celebrating the VMA virgins with the brand-new MTV special “One Direction: My First Time.”
The special is set to air Thursday, August 30, at 11 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. The guys of 1D will host the special, which will not only feature their preparations for the big show, but also the most memorable VMA performances of all time.
“One Direction: My First Time” will include appearances from fellow 2012 performers Pink, Green Day and Taylor Swift, who will recall their own first times taking the VMA stage with never-before-heard tales. The VMA vets will offer up some choice wisdom to the One Direction guys, who will take the stage themselves Thursday, September 6, when the show goes live from Staples Center in Los Angeles. They are also up for two Moonmen: Best New Artist and Best Pop Video for their “What Makes You Beautiful” clip.
One Direction want to go big for their first appearance on the VMAs. “It’s quite nerve-racking, because obviously there’s been so many historical moments and stuff that have happened at the VMAs,” 1D’s Liam Payne told MTV News earlier this summer. “Now we want to make a moment ourselves, but who knows?
“I think performing at the VMAs is such a huge occasion,” Payne added. “I think it ranks up there with one of the best performances we’ll do so far.”
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Head toVMA.MTV.com now through August 24 to vote for your favorites, or text BNA to 22444 (message and data rates may apply) to vote for Best New Artist all the way through the show!
And the next host of “Saturday Night Live” is … Sofia Vergara!
On the Jonah Hill-hosted March 10 installment of the late-night sketch comedy show, it was revealed that spicy“Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara will take a spin as “SNL” host in the April 7 episode of the show. The Golden Globe- and Emmy-nominated actress plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hit ABC sitcom and has her hands full with a clothing line and spokesperson gigs for CoverGirl and Pepsi.
The musical guest is One Direction, the British boy band currently invading American shores and hypnotizing teen and tween girls. The band came in third place on the seventh season of the U.K.’s “X Factor.” The band’s debut album comes out March 13, 2012 in the U.S. and will appear on an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon’s “iCarly.”
Yesterday Louis, Harry, Liam, and Niall attended the Kiss 108 studios in Boston, Massachusetts. They did a live Ustream performance and interview, so if you missed it, check it out below! I also added photos to the gallery of their appearance and leaving the studios. Enjoy!

Former X Factor contestants One Direction are to perform at the upcoming Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards.
The boys – Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – are scheduled to sing their single “What Makes Beautiful” on the show.

A week later, The Wanted – Jay Mcguiness, Tom Parker, Max George, Nathan Sykes and Siva Kaneswaran – broke the record by entering at Number 5.
The 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards will be presented by Will Smith live from the University of Southern California’s Galen Center in Los Angeles, on March 31. (For UK Viewers: The show will air on 1st April at 5:30pm)
