It seems that even the biggest stars in music can occasionally mess up and forget the lyrics. The latest victim of the ‘concert blank’ is none other than our very own Louis Tomlinson. The poor guy was at a loss for words in Wales recently when he forgot the lyrics to the Wheatus hit Teenage Dirtbag.
One Direction were belting out the millennium hit at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff on 02 March when poor Louis forgot the words. The 21 year old was honest with the crowd though and said “OK, I just forgot the lyrics. I’m not even going to pretend I know them.” His band-mates soon came to his aid though and he was able to carry on with a little prompting. “I’m sorry Cardiff.”
In all honesty, we can’t see what he has to be sorry for. Maybe he was tired from a little http://www.partycasino.com browsing late into the night as he winds down after a show. He’s only human, and we certainly don’t begrudge him the error, especially when he was so honest about it and genuinely sorry for the incident. It makes us wonder: Is it really such a big deal if one of the boys forgets the lyrics to a song that isn’t even one of theirs? Had it been Live While We’re Young, Little Things or even What Makes You Beautiful we still wouldn’t hold it against him.
Even the best performers forget sometimes. In fact, some are even known for it. Anyone who is a fan of Glee star Darren Criss, will know he is well known for forgetting the lyrics to his own songs during gigs. His fans have even turned the tendency into a loving running joke.
Luckily our Louis wasn’t beating himself up over the gaff, and seemed happy after the concert. He tweeted: “What a great gig! Loved that!!!!” later on in the night.
One Direction’s ‘Take Me Home’ tour has officially begun! The band kicked off their tour at the O2 Arena in London, England last night. I’ve uploaded a few images to the gallery of Louis.
Boy band phenomenon One Direction performed two sell-out shows in one day at London’s O2 Arena as they launched their world tour on 23 February.
The five-strong group belted out hits from both of their albums, including Up All Night and One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks) to more than 20,000 screaming fans on the first date of their 117-date Take Me Home tour.
After the show, band member Niall Horan Tweeted: “I love you guys so much! Luckiest dudes on the planet!”
“We just played two sold out shows at the O2 Arena today! You guys are incredible!”
Louis Tomlinson knew he would be out of the country for most of this weekend, so he spent an evening all alone with his girlfriend Eleanor Calder last night.
The One Direction star was accompanied by the stunning brunette to a charity gala on Thursday and the pair joined stars such as James Arthur, Labrinth, Liam Payne and Alexandra Burke at the Warchild event in London.
However, yesterday it was just Eleanor and Lou Lou and the pair were spotted enjoying a romantic evening in the cinema together, by eager fans.
We don’t know what film the couple saw, but we bet it was chick flick Les Miserables, as Eleanor recently admitted that she was desperate to see the musical which stars Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman.
The couple were later spotted looking all loved up in a fancy London restaurant, enjoying dinner for two before Louis headed to the airport, to catch his flight to Cannes.
One Direction will be performing at the French NRJ Music Awards this evening and after they showcase their latest single ‘Kiss You’ will find out if they have won the trophy for ‘Best International Group.’
Louis recently revealed exactly what it is that he loves about his pretty girlfriend, who is currently studying politics in a Manchester university and it seems he prefers her brains to her beauty.
“She studies politics at university and when she sits and talks about that, I find it really attractive,”
Lou Lou says they have a near perfect relationship, adding:
“We both trust each other – I spend a lot of time out of the country on tour. She often flies out so I see her a lot. I think the key to a good relationship is being best friends too. I spend more time with her and the band than I do with anyone else. She’s really great.”
If you’ve ever wondered what the One Direction members not involved in dressing as pirates or publically snogging Taylor Swift get up to at New Year you are in for a treat as it seems to involve Louis Tomlinson throwing a houseparty and letting Niall Horan loose with sparklers.
While this may sound like a potential health and saftey hazard, we are never ones to turn down the chance for a snoop inside a 1D member’s house and luckily plenty of snaps from the shindig seem to have appeared online.
As surprising as it is that Louis didn’t force his guests to arrive wearing masks of his face, it still looks like they had a pretty good time and there was an all star guest list.
By which we mean that Kye Sones and not-quite X Factor Finalist Adam Burridge were there, but whatever.
The night appears to have ended up being a fairly messy one with Adam tweeting the morning after saying: “@Louis_Tomlinson @EleanorJCalder @Kyesones1 All I remember from last night is me and Stan eating Vodka Cereal #hanging” [sic]
Well that’s definitely one way to multi-task your way through the early morning routine.
Kye seems to think Liam was there too, but as far as we can tell that may just have been the lifesize cut out that presumably takes pride of place in Luigi’s lounge.
While the activities on offer at the do seem to have involved taking lots of selfies and pulling faces in a photo booth, our favourite snap involves Nialler.
We’d imagine he might have had a shandy or two by this point and clearly giddy on the excitement of a brand new year, performed a little dance with the aid of a sparkler in the garden.
Top marks to whoever captured this facial expression for us all to enjoy.
In 2012, One Direction went from virtual unknowns in the United States to undoubtedly one of the biggest acts in music, and it doesn’t look like they will be slowing down in the new year.
Following the success of their smash album Take Me Home, the British/Irish boy band will spend the better part of next year working on their 3-D movie, which Simon Cowell said will not only be “about the fans,” but will also follow their massive 2013 world tour, which kicks off in February at London’s O2 arena.
They have their first-ever headlining tour for Up All Night under their belts, but this time around, the boys promise it will be bigger and better.
“With the last tour, we didn’t expect it to be as big as it was,” Harry Styles said. “We never expected to do that many dates. I think we did 92 shows, and this time we are kind of preparing it for bigger arenas so we can make the stage a bit bigger. The whole show is bigger, and we’re doing, like, 101 dates on the next one, so it’s going to be a long one.”
One Direction did admit that they’ve already picked out their opening act but wouldn’t disclose the lucky artist. However, they did reveal who is on their dream list of tourmates.
“Celine Dion!” Liam Payne said of who he would want to tour with before rattling off the names of Bruno Mars, Pink and Kanye West.
Zayn Malik admitted that going on tour with Katy Perry ”would be amazing,” but hip-hop mogul Jay-Z tops his list.
“Imagine going on tour with Jay-Z,” Malik asked the group.
“Lads, I don’t think there’s much chance,” Louis Tomlinson admitted.
And while they might not get to go on tour with Jay, they are keeping their hopes up for a possible collaboration.
“I would love to do a hip-hop collaboration with Jay-Z,” Payne said. “I don’t know how to talk to him, though. I think he’s wicked. I love Jay-Z. It upsets me that we’re not cool enough, but I wish we could.”
Not so fast: It seems Liam already made the first move. Payne snapped a photo of himself with Jay at the Brooklyn, New York, stop of Justin Bieber’s Believe Tour, after tweeting, “Alssoooo my biggest news todayy i met one of my idols and couldnt even look him in the eye…”
Wonder if he asked him about that collaboration? Fingers crossed, Directioners.
One Direction is in the issue of PARADE Magazine, and I’ve added some Christmas-themed photoshoot pictures, as well as an interview below. They talk about Christmas as well. Enjoy!
Editor’s note: To view an exclusive video message from the band, scan the code found on the cover of this weekend’s issue of PARADE, or come back Monday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. ET to watch the video at Parade.com/one. Click here for a full list of PARADE partner papers.
There is, as Dorothy so eloquently put it, no place like home. Especially at Christmas, and especially for the five hardworking members of Britain’s most popular boy band. After a year in which they toured the U.K. and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and 21 cities in North America; landed a spot at the Olympics closing ceremony; and recorded a new album, the lads of One Direction are looking forward to some downtime with family and friends. “I’ll probably go home to Ireland and do the same thing as every year: drink, eat, and sleep a lot,” says Niall Horan, 19. “Just chill out, become fat. We always go to the pub on Christmas Eve.”
“It’s the Christmas dinner,” says Harry Styles, 18, who tackles it with a Jagger-esque swagger. “You go in hard. Then about 7 o’clock, watching a film, you make a turkey sandwich.”
Since forming in 2010 for season seven of Britain’s The X Factor(they finished third), One Direction have become a phenomenon worth an estimated $42 million, a figure that may double next year. Their first album, Up All Night, debuted at No. 1 in the U.S., a feat no other Brits—not even the Beatles or theRolling Stones—ever managed. At September’s MTV Video Music Awards, they won three Moonmen, including Best Pop Video for “What Makes You Beautiful.” “That and doing the Olympics was when I thought, ‘This is bigger than I ever expected it to be,’” says Liam Payne, 19. The band’s second album, Take Me Home, has just been released.
Despite their success, the band members retain a refreshing mix of innocence, charm, and cocksureness, ribbing each other as they don winter wear for their PARADE shoot. All have sensibly plowed their newfound wealth into property—for themselves and, in the case of 19-year-old Zayn Malik, for Mum and Dad. “Now that we have a bit of money, it is nice to get gifts for people,” says Zayn, who bought his parents a house in Bradford, England, where he grew up. “Before I was getting and not really giving.”
Intense media and fan scrutiny ensures that every new hairstyle or offbeat occurrence (“I lost a shoe in Paris,” says Liam, “and that made world news”) gets maximum exposure, making a trip to the shops difficult. Still, the boys like to splash their cash in person. “It’s nice to go and pick out stuff rather than doing it online,” says Harry. Adds Louis Tomlinson, 20, “I do a bit of both. I prefer to go out, but it’s finding the time and the motivation, because [when] we’ve got time off it’s nice to do nothing.”
If it comes to it, there’s always One Direction merchandise to hand out. “My little cousin might get a few dolls,” Zayn says with a laugh. “But I don’t think my mum would be too happy with a doll of me for Christmas.”
And what will they get their bandmates? “I don’t think we’ve ever bought each other a Christmas present,” muses Liam. “If it’s somebody’s birthday, I have to arrange the present—always late because I’m a bit lazy. I’m not about to become the Christmas Man as well. That’s too many jobs.”

One Direction are the cover stars for the December/January issue of Teen Vogue!! If you are subscribed or are going to buy the magazine, you get a random pick of one of the 5 boys, (either Louis, Niall, Zayn, Harry, or Liam) as your cover boy! I am actually subscribed to Teen Vogue so I hope I get Louis’ cover.
As a general rule, once an action figure has been created in your likeness and shipped to toy stores around the globe, any claims of regular-guy status pretty much go straight out the window. But the five members of the British boy band One Direction—that’s, from left, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles, for those of you who were literally raised by wolves—tend to insist, quite convincingly, that they’re still the same lads who first auditioned for the U.K. version of The X Factor more than two years back. “What we do isn’t normal,” allows Niall, nineteen, in an interview conducted on the London set of the group’s Teen Vogue cover shoot. “But we’re normal.”
Harry, eighteen, agrees. “One time, a girl dropped her phone in my pocket,” he recalls, “and I found it and was like, ‘There you go.’ And she said, ‘If you’d had my phone, you’d have had to meet up with me to give it back.’” Hearing this story, one can’t help but be struck by the girl’s optimism—and cheek—but Harry seems more astounded by the idea that she deemed him worthy of such a ploy in the first place. “It’s nice to have people go to these lengths for you,” he says, “but sometimes it’s hard to understand, because we’re just guys. We’re guys who would be at your school, who got this amazing opportunity.”
Of course, it’s true. And thanks to the fact that the band was formed while cameras were rolling, anyone who wants to see what their favorite member of 1D was like pre-fame is able to do so simply by entering a few keywords on YouTube. (We recommend Zayn refuses to dance at boot camp for a combination of shyness, stage fright, and stubbornness that’s almost as crush-inspiring, at least in retrospect, as any of the slick videos that came afterward.)
Now, the guys are hard at work promoting their just-released second album, Take Me Home, and prepping for a world tour that begins in February. “We’re playing the Staples Center in Los Angeles,” announces Zayn, nineteen. “One of the first concerts I saw in America was there—Britney Spears—and I remember thinking, ‘This place is massive.’ Now we’re going to be playing there? I can’t wait.” Their schedule is intense enough that Liam, nineteen, has to think long and hard to come up with a single thing about his life that hasn’t changed in the past year. “I still put on underwear every day,” he offers, at last. But according to Louis, who is about to turn 21, the boys continue to have plenty of time to be boys, so to speak. “There’s quite a lot of waiting around,” he explains, “so we often find the need to be a little mischievous. Like today, for example, Liam and I managed to get on the roof of [the photo studio], and we were hiding from everyone. We just try to keep ourselves entertained.” Luckily, they’re doing a pretty good job of keeping everyone else entertained while they’re at it.

The ‘One Thing’ singer says he and Harry once embarrassingly confused two tourists for excited fans.
One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has recalled an embarrassing moment with two presumed fans earlier this year while holidaying with bandmate Harry Styles.
The ’Live While We’re Young’ singer says he and Harry were once skiing when they were approached by two fellow holiday goers they assumed were fans of the band and wanted a picture of the pop stars.
“One time Harry and I were skiing together when a girl and a guy came up to us with a camera,” Louis told Seventeen magazine, in the publication’s November issue. “We assumed they were going to ask us for a photo, so we stood there with our arms around each other posing.
“They said, ‘No, we want you to take a photo of us!’ It was embarrassing!”
The ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ singer went on to name Harry as the bandmate he can “talk to about anything”, while admitting he enjoys having heart-to-heart conversations with Zayn Malik and doing “something crazy” with Liam Payne.
